Man shot at DeKalb check cashing business

DeKalb Police are searching for two men who shot the owner of a check cashing business Friday morning.

Investigators tell FOX 5 it happened at Checks Cashed on Farrington Road.

According to police, the robbers shot the store owner in the chest and stole some cash. The incident happened right when the owner arrived to open up his Lithonia store.

Police say a bystander heard the commotion, pulled the weapon and started shooting toward the thieves. The two men ran off with the bag of cash, but dropped their gun.

The unidentified owner is being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital and remains in serious condition.

Police are still looking for the man who stepped into break up the robbery.
