NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Angie Martinez, a longtime host on Hip-Hop radio station HOT 97, has left the station for rival Power 105.1. The popular radio personality abruptly resigned on Wednesday.

“This was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make, but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways. Saying goodbye is always emotional and bittersweet but I am extremely excited about the future. Today will be my last show," said Martinez via Instagram.

HOT 97 Assistant Program Director Ebro Darden issued a statement on Thursday wishing Martinez well:

"Angie has given over 20 years of service to the HOT 97 brand, where she exemplified professionalism and passion for music. We thank her deeply for her commitment to Hip Hop, radio, and broadcasting."

The 43-year-old mother will be back on the airwaves during the afternoon drive on 105.1 beginning in mid-July.

The Hess triangle is a tiny piece of private property in Greenwich Village. Manhattan historian Joyce Gold explained the origins of the property: After World War I, New York City seized a beautiful residence and tore it down so it could extend Seventh Avenue and the west side subway below it. The city left the building's owner only a tiny scrap of property so small it requested he donate the triangle to make way for a sidewalk. The man refused, took the city to court and won.
