HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Calling this "a very exciting day," former University of Houston guard Danuel House confirmed in an interview with FOX 26 Sports that he is transferring to Texas A&M and has signed to play for the Aggies.
"I like the opportunity that the coaching staff has given to me," House said. "I love that they were willing to give a platform for me to come and perform not too far from my house."
House, who played high school basketball at Fort Bend Hightower, received his release from UH in April.
The release stipulated that Texas A&M was the only university in Texas that he could consider.
He chose the Aggies over UCLA
"I hope I can bring A&M wins and to compete for the SEC championship and go to the NCAA Tournament," House said.
House said he will petition the NCAA for a waiver that will allow him to play immediately for the Aggies.
House, 6-7, was the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2013.
He has two years of eligibility left.
