Police all across Texas are now searching for 20 year old Ryan Walton. Walton's parents were found dead in their upscale Katy home. Now the 20 year old is missing and Fort Bend County detectives are calling him a person of interest.
As Fort Bend County detectives work to solve the murder of husband and wife Michael and Lynda Walton they're also hoping to solve another mystery. Where is the couple's 20 year old son?
"We would like to talk with him about what took place yesterday," explains Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls. The 20 year old's parents were murdered inside their exclusive gated community now their youngest son Ryan Walton has disappeared.
"We're concerned about his safety. We haven't been able to talk to him. Knowing his parents are deceased you think it would be something he is concerned about. So we're looking for him," adds Sheriff Nehls. Even friends and family haven't been able to reach Ryan.
54 year old Michael Walton and his 52 year old wife Lynda were found dead inside their upscale Katy home Thursday night around 5:15 p.m.
"I'm taken aback by the whole thing. We ve been here 11 years and never had any problems at all. It's rather alarming," says neighbor David Roberson. Michael Walton is a real estate developer who also developed the neighborhood he lived in. "He was a good guy," says Roberson .
"We just kind of always felt it was a safe comfortable place to live without any significant problems," adds another neighbor.
The murdered couple has four kids, an 18 year old daughter who is the youngest and three sons ages 20, 24 and 28. It was the 24 year old who found his parents dead but where is the 20 year old? One photo released by the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office of the couple's missing son is a mugshot from 2011 when Ryan Walton was arrested for marijuana possession. Ryan was a student at Texas A and M near Corpus Christi but investigators say he isn't currently enrolled.
Fort Bend County investigators say there are signs of forced entry at the house but there were many valuables and nothing was ransacked nor taken. The cause of death hasn't yet been released but shell casings were found near the bodies.
To give you an idea of the security at this gated community, the Fort Bend County Sheriff himself had to sign in with a guard before he could get into the neighborhood to investigate the murders.
