Your granddaddy may have enjoyed Pabst or Wild Turkey, but your earlier ancestors likely drank mead.
Some historians believe it was being consumed as early as 6,000 BCE in China.
"It's the oldest known alcoholic beverage," explained Bob Lasseter of Black Fox Meadery in Palm Harbor.
For about two years, Lasseter has been making it in his home, but he hopes to grow his meadery and sell his product in stores and bars.
Mead is made from honey and yeast. It's fermented and aged.
Lasseter makes different flavors from different varieties of honey and fruits. He hopes to cash in on the same curiosity that's lead millions of people to craft beers.
"Why not add something different," he asked. "Something unique and historic."
