A Missouri City officer is in stable condition at a Houston hospital after falling from a bridge into a creek following a three-vehicle accident.

Officer Kenneth Lewis was taken by Life Flight medical helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center on Friday morning after he fell into the creek on State Highway 6 near Knights Court.

After conducting a traffic stop after 12 a.m. Friday, Ofc. Lewis was knocked over the bridge when a vehicle, driven by Christie Diane Biggers, struck the Missouri City police patrol car, which struck the stopped vehicle in front of it. The driver of the stopped vehicle was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Biggers, a 46-year-old Missouri City resident, was arrested and charged with intoxicated assault, then taken to Fort Bend County Jail.

Sugar Land police conducted the accident investigation.
