PHOENIX (AP) - A federal judge has found Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in compliance with an order that all employees read a summary of key findings in a racial profiling case against the police agency.

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow found on Wednesday that the sheriff's office has complied with the order he issued on April 17 for deputies, civilian employees and posse volunteers to read the summery. Jail volunteers who teach courses or provide religious services were exempted.

Snow had concluded that Arpaio mischaracterized a ruling in which Snow found that the agency racially profiled Latinos in its immigration and traffic patrols and unreasonably prolonged the detentions of people during traffic stops. Arpaio has vigorously denied his agency racially profiles people and has appealed the ruling.
