Police are searching for a masked man caught on camera punching the manager of a South Florida restaurant and then robbing him at gunpoint.
Andre Colon, the manager of the Burger and Beer Joint in Pembroke Pines, said he found himself staring down the barrel of a gun after a masked man sneaked up from behind and punched him on his right side temple, March 29 around 2 a.m.
The security camera in the manager's office inside the restaurant shows Colon crunching sales numbers after a successful Friday night. The footage then shows the perpetrator walking into the office, striking Colon with his right hand and then handing him a blue duffel bag while holding a gun pointed at the manager. "I thought it was one of my employees messing around, like, pretending to hit me and then accidentally hitting me," said Colon.
Colon quickly realized this was a robber. He said he was wearing two masks, one on top of the other.
Despite being punched and threatened with a gun, however, Colon said he never panicked in an interview with WSVN. "I just wanted to be as calm as possible, so he could be as calm as possible," he said.
The restaurant manager said he listened to the robber's demands and gave him cash. Colon did not specify how much money the robber took from the restaurant.
Colon said the crook got into the restaurant through an unlocked back door. He added that door is now securely locked at all times.
Despite having been attacked in such violent manner, Colon said he is not traumatized by the ordeal. When asked how he managed to remain calm and collected under pressure, he said, "I'm just naturally like that all the time."
