NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The Ultimate Warrior, one of the most iconic performers in professional wrestling, died suddenly at the age of 54.

The WWE confirmed that James Hellwig passed away on Tuesday.

Hellwig collapsed outside of a hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz. while walking to his car with his wife, reported TMZ.

The were no signs of foul play, according to police.

His death comes just days after being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania weekend in New Orleans.

He gave an ominous speech at the awards ceremony saying "Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe a final breath."

Hellwig appeared to be sweaty and very uncomfortable during the speech, sources told TMZ.

The Ultimate Warrior was one of the most popular wrestlers in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He dressed in face paint and would shake the ropes while the crowd went wild.

"We are all so sad the Ultimate Warrior has passed away. Our heart is with his wife Dana and his two daughters," tweeted WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Hellwig made his debut in 1987 when the company was known as the World Wrestling Federation.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
