Study: mouthwash use could have deadly impact on your health

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Your mouthwash use could have a potentially deadly impact on your overall health.

It turns out heavy use of mouthwashes may lead to a higher risk of developing oral cancer.

According to a recent study in the Oral Oncology Journal, the chance of developing mouth and throat cancer greatly increases for people who rinse with mouthwash more than three times a day.

The latest research supports a 2009 study that pinpointed alcohol in mouthwashes as the main contributor to the increased risk.

That's because alcohol allows cancer-causing substances to penetrate the lining of the mouth more easily.
