A one-story home, described by many residents in this League City neighborhood as very quiet, turned into a crime scene for investigators.
"Our patrol officer came to the residence and found a female deceased within the residence," says Officer Reagan Pena with the League City Police Department.
The news of a dead woman found inside the home quickly spread throughout the quiet neighborhood, leaving many of its residents in disbelief.
"It's just really strange to hear that happen in this neighborhood, because it's an island in the midst of everything and there are several police officers that live in this neighborhood," says Steve Montgomery, a resident of the area.
League City police tell FOX 26 News that a Hispanic homeowner came to the off duty officer's home telling him his wife was unresponsive, but when the officer entered the home, he immediately called 911.
Officer Pena explains, "I don't have any information to release on the cause or manner of the cause of death, we are treating this as a homicide investigation. It is not of natural causes that we believe she passed away."
Forensic investigators combed through the home in search of clues while family members were taken down to their headquarter offices to provide additional information. The husband however was arrested but is still not facing charges.
"At this time he is being detained and questioned," adds Pena.
The off duty officer could not talk to FOX 26 on camera on Saturday, but looked distressed.
"That's a depressing thing to have happen in any neighborhood but especially to have to see that, I feel bad for the family and people involved," says Montgomery.
Police say no one else was in the home when officers arrived.
