Witnesses reported a fleeing driver struck the horse and its 17-year old rider in the 7100 block of Parker near Homestead in northeast Houston.
According to police at the scene, police were pursuing a driver in NE Houston. During the pursuit, police say the driver was tossing items from the car's window. The fleeing driver went through a parking lot where he struck a horse with a 17-year old rider on it. The horse reared up knocking the teen from its back. The horse sustained a broken neck and leg and had to be euthanized at the scene. The 17-year old was not seriously injured but was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution. Police did apprehend the driver.
