Fight over a $20 dollars ends with one person dead in NW Harris County

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Houston homicide investigators are trying to piece a crime scene that actually covers two different locations.

Investigators say it started around 10:30p.m. Wednesday night when a 15 year old male attempted to go inside a Greens Food store on Greens Parkway and Fall Lake in Northwest Harris County and break a $20 dollar bill.

The clerk inside didn't have the change and so the teen approached a car in the parking lot with two men inside.  Instead the teen told police one of the men grabbed the cash and refused to give it back.

The teen left the location and went back to his home at Ella and Rankin in Northwest Harris County and got an older relative and two other men to return to the store.

When the four returned to the store they didn't see the suspect who took the $20 dollars.

As the four males were driving away from the scene, Brian Evans with Houston Homicide Division says gunfire erupted from a wooded area along the road.

Two people inside the car were shot.  A 25 year old male in the car died and the 15year old boy was shot in the upper back but treated and released from Ben Taub Hospital.
