ECH! Who stole the Georgia Tech 'T'?

ATLANTA, Ga. -

A crucial portion of a famous landmark was removed from the campus of Georgia Tech.

The letter 'T' was removed from one of the sides of the Tech Tower. After a search that began midday Tuesday, authorities say they located the portion of the sign later in the afternoon.

For years thefts of the letter 'T' from various campus signs has been an issue, officials say.

A recently upgraded security camera system could provide some clues into how the reported theft happened.

In a statement issued late Tuesday by campus officials, leaders noted "We are aware that a "T" is missing from Tech Tower. Defacing campus property is not a tradition that should inspire feelings of pride. The Georgia Tech Police Department is investigating."
