Carl and Barbara Becker say they've never been thrown out of anywhere-- at least not until now.  But on February 21, the meal they call "scrunch" was cut short when they were tossed out of a McDonalds restaurant in Culpeper, Virginia because they stayed too long.

The Beckers are in their 80s.  They say they've been having scrunch-- their meal between supper and lunch-- at their favorite McDonalds for decades.  But on that particular day, they were approached by an employee who was cleaning.  They say dust started flying, and the employee asked if that bothered them.  When they told her it did if you like to eat dirt, a manager soon appeared.

That's when the Beckers say they were told to leave because their half-hour was up and the floor needed to be cleaned.  They say they've never been told of a time limit before now, but they got up and dumped out their food-- laughed-- and then left.

FOX 5's Beth Parker visited the restaurant.  She couldn't find any signs that warn customers of a 30-minute limit for sitting the restaurant.

The Beckers-- who have six kids and many grandchildren-- say they didn't harbor any hostility or feel embarrassed because "it was so foolish, so unbelievable."  Mr. Becker, a World War II veteran, wrote a letter to the editor detailing what happened.

FOX 5's Beth Parker reached out to the owner of the McDonalds franchise where the incident happened, but has not heard back.  McDonalds' corporate offices addressed the situation, offering the couple two free small coffees to apologize.

What did the Beckers think of that?  They say they're not a two small coffees couple.
