Report shows address fraud at Grady High School

Posted: Updated:

Grady High School is embroiled in a major address fraud scheme -- involving more than 10 students on their top-ranking football team.

An investigation revealed that 14 students were enrolled at Grady under fake addresses -- which means, these players should not be attending Grady High School or playing on the football team.

On Wednesday night, a report was presented to parents of football players and the public during a special meeting with Superintendent Erroll Davis. The district had social workers visit the students' addresses to check if they were real.

The report suggested one address was shared by seven students. And that one of the parents who used a phony address is an assistant coach and his child was a player on the team.

The district says there was no evidence that any coaches set out to recruit students who weren't eligible.

But the report says Head Coach Ronnie Millen, who has since been reassigned, had been "uncooperative" with investigators.

Parents of football players were left stunned and worried about what's next for their kids.

The GHSA has not decided on where they'll penalize the school.
