President Obama to appear in Conn. on minimum wage

Posted: Updated:

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - President Barack Obama is making a stop in Connecticut to push for an increase in the federal minimum wage.

The Democrat is scheduled to appear Wednesday at Central Connecticut State University for an afternoon address. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, who has been outspoken about his support for eventually increasing both the state and federal minimum wages to $10.10 an hour, is scheduled to be on hand for the public event.

The governors of Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island are also expected to attend.

CCSU announced Tuesday it was notified by the White House Advance Team that all available tickets for the general public had been distributed.

Students were urged to come to campus earlier than usual to avoid delays caused by heavier than normal traffic. Temporary road closures were possible.
