106 Year Old Man Celebrates His Birthday By Exercising

Posted: Updated:

Florida resident Francis Smith turned 106 years old Friday and just like any other day, he went to the gym to work out!

When Smith turned 100 years old, his doctors insisted he go to the gym to keep himself healthy.

Now it is six years later and he is still alive and well all thanks to his routine.

Smith has become an inspiration to the other members at Planet Fitness.

"He's been a member here since 2008, an inspiration, comes 2 - 3 times a week, and everyone loves him, he's got a great personality,"says Planet Fitness Manager, Ken Small.

"When new people sign up they always ask about him, who is he? He's here all the time, and everyone just gravitates towards him," continues Small.

Smith normally works out for an hour using circuit training but on his birthday, he changed it up.

The workout ended early so he could enjoy birthday cake with his wife and friends by his side.

Smith says his advice for a long healthy life is "to take each day as it comes. Enjoy it. Don't fight it."

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
