The cold meant nothing to the folks in Sea Isle City!
They dove right in the freezing ocean for the Polar Bear Plunge at JFK Boulevard Beach.
The Chamber crowned a new Polar Bear "Royal Family," hosted a hilarious Costume Contest, and delight people of all ages with a Polar Bear Parade to the JFK Boulevard Beach, where countless participants will gather for the main event: a Plunge in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Parade featured past Polar Bear Kings and Queens, including Dr. Irene Jameson, the event's founder and first Queen. Dr. Jameson, age 89, who cruised along the parade route while seated on a throne of ice.
Following the main plunge on JFK Boulevard, she took a ceremonial dip in the Atlantic Ocean with family and friends.
Proceeds from the Run-Walk benefit Autism support groups, special services schools and families with special needs children.
Rain arrives for the second half of the work week. Another fall-like blast of cool weather to follow for the weekend.
Scattered showers are possible tonight as a cold front approaches the area. Otherwise, the best chance for rain will be Thursday afternoon and night where we'll see on and off showers and thunderstorms.
Clouds and showers linger though much of Friday. We may still see a passing shower Saturday. Unseasonably cool air returns this weekend where both days only see high temps in the mid 70s with many of us falling into the 50s at night.
