Family seeks answers after Southgate hit-and-run

SOUTHGATE, Mich. (WJBK) -

A family is desperate for answers after a father of five is killed by a hit and run driver in Southgate. A vigil was held Sunday night.

The family of Frankie King gathered where the 39-year-old died. It happened late Friday night when King was either heading to or leaving the Sunoco gas station on Northline Rd. A driver hit him in front of the driveway and dragged him about 75 feet. Some good samaritans watched it all happen and rushed over to help.

"One guy stopped to help him and pull him off the road," said Michael King, the victim's brother. "The other guy chased the guy a couple of miles to get him to pull over."

But the suspect got away and Frankie died soon after. The family is asking the person behind the wheel to come forward. Southgate police are looking for a blue Astro van which likely has front end damage. It's an older model between 1986 and 1996. King's family is also offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest. If you have any information, call Southgate police.
