Cheerios Brings Back Mixed Race Family In New Ad

Posted: Updated:

After getting so many insensitive comments last year when they featured a biracial family in their cereal ad, Cheerios is taking a stand and using that same family in their big Super Bowl ad this year.

This time, the father sits with his daughter and reveals to her that she will soon have a brother. Her reaction is priceless. (Hint, the daughter bargains for another member to the family!)

While some criticized the first commercial, others supported the message that Cheerios was spreading. Many YouTube directors even made parodies to poke fun at the insensitive comments.

A General Mills company spokesperson says that it's all about families and love.

"When families eat breakfast together, amazing things can happen," the video description says.

Many comments on the new advertisement shows support for Cheerio's stand against racism.

"hahahahaha... :D.. Never thought i would see the day that cheerios has to take a stand.. and stand they did :D," wrote Mari Thomas.

Another viewer wrote, "I'm so glad Cheerios didn't let the racist trolls stop them from using this family for their commercials. Way to go cheerios for standing up for what is right. I wish more people would do the same."

The new commercial has already amassed almost a million views since being posted two days ago on YouTube.
