Man killed, 2nd person wounded in Augusta shooting

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Police in Augusta identified a man gunned down in the east Georgia city as 39-year-old Christopher Padgett of Augusta.

Richmond County sheriff's deputies say they found Padgett dead and another person wounded on Moore Road shortly before 11 p.m. Friday.

Richmond County Deputy Chief Coroner Mark Bowen said Padgett was shot at least once in the chest.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that a suspect is in custody and the wounded person was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment. Few other details were immediately available.
