It was Houston's first ice storm in three years and social media sites like Facebook allowed a new kind of interaction.
"So we're trying to open the trampoline and its stuck," a woman is heard saying on a video posted to our Fox 26 Houston fan page.
When LaLa Howell posted the video, we weren't quite sure what she was up to, until she's heard saying, "who wants to break the ice?"
Little ladies go first on Howell's video.
But as it turns out "breaking the ice" trampoline style was actually a popular sport on this icy January 24th.
The little kid even came out in a couple of jumping adults.
Richey Farrell shared his laughs with us.
"You're gonna fall. I got you on camera," someone says on his video. Followed by, "we got snow."
And the "big kid" in Alexis Eiler's video took a dive that had the little ones behind the camera squealing.
"Cannonball," is heard on Brandy Garner's video as a little boy jumps, then lands on a sheet of ice on his trampoline. Garner captured the "ouch" factor that comes with breaking the ice- trampoline style.
But breaking the ice, car window style, also drew more than a few laughs from Alicia Esquivel and her daughter, as well as Saif Abuhaija, who captured the "inside" break on the video he shared on our page.
As if recently learning to walk wasn't a big enough challenge for this little one, Ana Garza captured her tiny tot taking on an icy new challenge, with a little help of course to avoid a different kind of "ice break".
Edwin Mascorro found a different way to have fun with the weather. His boiling water trick drew a lot of likes and comments on our Facebook page, as well as a few cautionary warnings.
But back to the trampolines, as the children in Howell's video learned, sometimes it's okay to throw caution to the wind.
Because after a little slipping, slidding and squealing, they still had more fun on the way.
"Okay now scoop it up and make a snowman."
