Harris County attorney, Vince Ryan, says crime is so bad on a piece of Southwest Houston property, he's taking the owner to court to get it under control.
The nuisance abatement suit targets a strip mall, on the 9700 block of Bissonnet.
In two years, police have made dozens of arrests for prostitution, assault, robbery and rape.
The county says the property owner is well-aware of what's happening and has to take responsibility for providing a safe environment.
The Shapstown Management District says the area is an embarrassment to the city.
people who promote business, here, say it's a continuing embarrassment to the city.
"Bissonnet, and that corner of the world, should be a thriving business community," says the district's David Hawes, "But you have this type of activity going on: It drives people away."
A Houston attorney, representing the property's New York owners tells Fox 26 that his clients ordered him not to comment on the suit.
The county attorney is hopeful a settlement can be reached to improve safety, on the site.
