Chef Grant Achatz earned a huge response to his tweets about a baby crying in his restaurant, Alinea, located in Chicago, IL.
Several diners on January 11 started tweeting that their dinner was disturbed by a baby's crying. Some diners even went as far as to say that people with children should give up going to expensive restaurants altogether, something that many new parents might not like to hear.
Instead of ignoring the aggressive distress, Achatz chose to respond to the tweeters and even suggest a "baby-ban" to his upscale restaurant. To accompany this, he tweeted pictures of one of his dishes, captioning it "definitely not baby food."
Someone soon created a parody account, @AlineaBaby, that tweets humorous comments about the restaurant and the food from a baby's perspective, for example, "Also, sitting through 13 courses is pretty damn boring for a baby. So I did what any self-respecting baby would do - I pooped."
Another tweet said, "To be fair -- it's not my fault. I was up way past my bedtime. Waaaahhh!"
It appears folks are on the side of the chef in this case.
One person wrote, "What's being purchased is far more than mere food. It is ambiance. Babies shouldn't go to the opera either."
Another twitter follower of the chef said, "I love kids. But I don't bring my bottle of whiskey to Chuck E. Cheese. Please don't bring your infant to Alinea."
