NJ towns announce plans for Super Bowl week

Posted: Updated:

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - Two New Jersey towns within miles of MetLife Stadium have announced their plans to draw visitors before next month's Super Bowl.

Officials from East Rutherford and Secaucus outlined their plans Monday at an event in East Rutherford.

East Rutherford is planning a large tailgate party that will include music, food and games that will take place on Super Bowl Sunday, in the hours leading up to the game.

Secaucus is planning a Winter Blast that will feature food trucks, a beer garden and a pro hockey game.

Both towns say they've got enough sponsors to defray most costs.

The Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium will be the first played outdoors at a cold-weather location. About 400,000 people are expected to visit the New York-New Jersey area for the game.
