Teen charged with murder in death of Brooklyn teen

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - Police have arrested a 17-year-old man they say shot and killed a 16-year-old Brooklyn boy who promised his parents he'd be home by 10 p.m. as he left a party earlier this month.

Police say Saturday Jahiem Spruill was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the Jan. 4 shooting of Iquan Williams.

Spruill was in custody and unavailable for comment. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.

Police say Williams was shot in the head outside a building in Brooklyn's Brownsville section. His parents have said they don't believe he was the target.

They've said he was going to a friend's house the night of the murder.

His mother's said he sent them a message that he'd be home soon and said he loved her.
