Local shelters provide refuge from cold

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Several spots around the metro Atlanta area are providing warm shelters for those in need Monday night.

The old Adamsville Recreation Center on Delmar Lane in northwest Atlanta opened its doors on Monday night. Employees prepared cots for up to 100 people.

Atlanta City Councilmember Michael Bond stressed that the shelter is available for anyone who needs a warm place to stay.

If you need transportation to the shelter, call 404-817-7070.

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office opened an emergency shelter at the Hamilton Crossing Gym on Beavers Drive in Cartersville. For transportation to the shelter, call 911. Animals of those staying at the shelter are welcome, according to the Sheriff Clark Millsap.

Action Church, located at 271 Marietta St. in Canton, also opened its doors to those in need on Monday.
