Texans owner Bob McNair said process to find new head coach continues

Posted: Updated:

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair told FOX 26 Sports on Saturday that the team's search for a new head coach is ongoing and no decisions have been made.

"The process continues," McNair said. "It's not over. We have further interviews scheduled for next week."

McNair and the Texans are not commenting on specific candidates.

ESPN reports the Texans met with Penn St. head coach Bill O'Brien and are in negotiations with him that could make O'Brien the Texans next head coach.

ESPN said O'Brien is the "overwhelming favorite" to get the job.

NFL sources told FOX 26 Sports interim head coach Wade Phillips, who is a candidate for the job on a permanent basis, met with team officials Thursday night.

The only other known candidate is former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith, who has already interviewed with the Texans.
