Athens authorities investigate possible kidnapping

CLARKE COUNTY, Ga. -

UPDATED 12/27/13 at 3:30PM - Police say they have made contact with those individuals in the picture and have found that no abduction has occurred.

ORIGINAL STORY: Athens-Clarke County authorities are wanting to track down a man believed to have forced a young woman into his van, possibly against her will.

Authorities say Thursday evening a man driving a dark colored van approached a white female in her mid to late 20's, wearing a black jacket, black shirt, dark colored tights, and tall black boots.

This happened near Firewood Street and Whit Davis Road, police say.

The two were seen a short time later in a nearby store. The vehicle is described as a dark colored Dodge Caravan with possible tag characters of 481FWC or FUI4WC.

Authorities have not released the names of either of the individuals.

Anyone with information is asked to call Athens-Clarke County Police or Crime Stoppers.
