Consumer Reports study: Most raw chicken sold at stores is contaminated

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A study by Consumer Reports has found 97% of all raw chicken sold in stores is contaminated with some kind of bacteria that can make you sick.

The study found six common forms of bacteria on chicken bought at stores around the country. You can avoid getting sick by making sure chicken is cooked to at least 165 degrees.

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds after handling raw chicken. Buy meat last when you shop, so it stays cold longer before you get it home.
