The Houston Texans interviewed former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith as the team begins the process to find its next head coach, NFL sources told FOX 26 sports director Mark Berman.

Smith was fired as Bears head coach on New Year's Eve 2012 after the team compiled a 10-6 record and did not reach the NFL playoffs.

During Smith's coaching tenure, the Bears won three division titles and one conference championship between 2004 and 2012. After the Bears reached the Super Bowl in 2006, the team only advanced to the playoffs during one of its next six seasons.

During his nine seasons as Bears head coach, Smith compiled an 81-63 regular season record (.563) and 3-3 in the postseason.
