ATLANTA -

A Buckhead business owner who sold the winning Mega Millions ticket worth millions isn't in line to receive a cash bonus.

While the owner of the California store where the winning lottery ticket was sold will receive $1 million, Young Soo Lee, the owner of the Gateway Newsstand that sold the ticket to Ira Curry, will have to settle for publicity generated and the standard 6 percent commission all retail outlets received on each lottery ticket sold.

"Although they do not get a cashing bonus, or a selling bonus, for the ticket, we think that just the value of being a lucky store will drive additional traffic into the retail," said Georgia Lottery CEO Debbie Alford.

The Georgia Lottery said more than $42 million of tickets were sold during the latest jackpot, which lasted more than two months. That generated more than $17 million for the state's HOPE scholarship and pre-K programs.
