Volunteers help widow build memorial to murdered husband

Posted: Updated:

A group of volunteers has come together to help a woman who lost her husband in a violent crime.

Back in April, Ronald Clark was brutally killed outside of an Atlanta convenience store. The murder remains unsolved.

Team Depot, a group of volunteers who helps communities in need, has stepped up to help Ronald's widow, Marilyn Clark, after  chance encounter.

"I walked into a Home Depot in a fog, just thinking that I would find a project to get my mind off of my husband's murder investigation and met a wonderful lady...She walked up, asked me how she could help me, and I just broke down crying," said Marilyn Clark.

More than 30 volunteers raked leaves, installed bird houses and finished a memorial that Clark has been building in her late husband's honor.

"We've all had something happen in our lives at some point and it just feels really good when somebody comes in and really lifts you up," said Stephen Gendron, a Home Depot district services manager.

Clark says the support will lift her up and it serves as a reminder of her husband's own generosity.

"It's truly a blessing, I don't have words for it. I am so grateful," Clark said.

Clark said the memorial, built by the hands of kindness in honor of a man who encompassed kindness, will light up her life in ways that will live on forever.

Clarks murder remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Atlanta police.
