If your sex drive is dead, one of these probably killed it

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Couples who end their marriage often times never tell family and friends what really happened. They may say they fought too much or couldn't agree on the kids or someone may have wandered and become involved with another. However, if you talk in depth with the majority of couples who divorce, one thing becomes clear. Sex issues were at the heart of the divorce. Whether they talk about the absence of sex, not liking sex or wanting more sex with a partner who held back, you can sense their anger, frustration and feelings of resentment. Sex problems don't have to lead to divorce, but they do, especially with couples that cannot communicate what they are feeling, and those who feel no hope for a change.

Blaming your partner is easy if your partner doesn't want sex; whereas, exploration and seeking medical attention can be consuming and requires more diligence attending appointments and trying different modes of medication and counseling. Yet, having a loving relationship that includes intimacy and sex is an important part of a healthy, happy marriage. Many couples put off dealing with the issue because they are embarrassed, scared, mad at their partner or so resentful of their partner that they are no longer motivated to work on improving their relationship.

When you no longer have a sex drive it isn't only an issue for your partner and your relationship, it's a medical issue, and to be healthy you need to address your low sex drive. A low sex drive can be an early warning of diabetes, cancer or heart disease, as well as a sundry of other medical issues.

Here is a list of common reasons for low sex drive:

• Poor body image/menopause: In a recent study researchers found that it wasn't the hormone changes that affected women as much as their body image with aging.

• Obesity: When you are obese the extra weight changes hormones and blood flow. ED is common in obese men, and obese women's body images suffer.

• Conflict in the relationship: If you don't like your partner, having sex with them is low on your list.

• Not feeling connected with your partner: An emotional connection is necessary for a healthy sex drive in most women (and men as they mature).

• Stress: Stress can make a man desire sex more until it becomes overwhelming stress. Stress usually minimizes women's sex drive.

• A Lack of sleep.

• Having kids: Women usually lose some of their sex drive at home when they have children. However, this seems to go away when they escape with their partner.

• ED problems: If you cannot achieve an erection, then penetration is impossible without medical help.

• Problems with medication: Many different medications can cause erection difficulty.

• Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant. A little bit can help depress your inhibitions, and too much takes its toll on your ability to want to have sex.

For every sex drive problem there is an answer and a cure. However, finding it and working it out takes time and effort on the couple's part. When you invest time in your marriage, make sure you invest in your intimacy and sex too. Talk about your sex life, and what you want to work on with your partner in regards to your sex life. Beginning a healthy lifestyle plan helps couples in the bedroom, as well as their personal life, in restoring and improving their body image. Don't let your sex life become old or boring as you age. There is no reason you should not be able to enjoy sex and intimacy with your partner throughout your life span. Couples who enjoy active intimacy with one another are healthier and happier than couples that don't.

The question came up, “Do pickup lines actually work?” To answer this, I went down to The Ginger Man in the Rice Village in Houston, Texas, and asked people what they thought.

Obesity is an epidemic all over the world. It underlies illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease and cancer. Food addicts differ from people who overeat during holidays or special events. They differ because they have a relationship with food that is unhealthy.
