NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Police on Long Island have arrested two teens and are looking for a third person after a brutal gang attack.

Nassau County Police say the attack happened at 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1. in New Cassel.

Police say that Jose Hernandez, 17, of Westbury and Jose Clavel, 19, of New Cassel and another person were armed with a baseball bat, machete and knife and waited for two victims in a yard on Roman Ave.

The victims were 21 and 22 years old and had a previous verbal altercation with the suspects, according to police.

Police say the group knocked one victim to the ground with the baseball bat and the other victim was attacked with the machete.

The man who was attacked with the machete had to be rushed to the hospital with severe lacerations to his hand and forearm and a stab wound to the back. He underwent emergency surgery but his condition was unknown.

The victim who was knocked down only suffered cuts and scrapes and refused medical treatment.

Hernandez was arrested in Levittown on Wednesday and Clavel was arrested in Westbury on Tuesday. Both are charged with multiple assault charges. They were to be arraigned on Wednesday in Hempstead.

Detectives request anyone with information on the attack to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. They say that all callers will remain anonymous.
