Service restored to affected Hudson Line

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK (AP) - Service on Metro-North's Hudson Line that had been shut down after a fatal New York City derailment is back.

Officials say the first train rolled through the area of the crash at 5:24 a.m.

Officials expect 98 percent of service to be restored to the commuter train line.

The Spuyten Duyvil station has three tracks. The middle track was badly damaged and the track closest to the river was destroyed. While crews fix those two tracks, limited service has been restored on the third.

The six morning trains that normally operate during peak hours are being combined into three.

The early Sunday morning accident left four dead and more than 60 others injured.
