NEW YORK (AP) - The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s family and one of his former top aides, Andrew Young, have been united for decades by a common goal - protecting the legacy of the slain civil rights leader.

But now a lawsuit threatens that bond over a bitter point of legal contention: Who has rights to King's words and images?

The conflict centers on a lawsuit filed by King's sons, who control their father's estate. The lawsuit includes a request that Young be removed from the board of directors of a nonprofit devoted to his memory over allegations he used footage of King in a documentary without permission.

Young disagrees about his use of footage in which he and King both appear. He says he also has a right to King's legacy.

The winds will turn to the west on Thursday and that may be enough to push afternoon highs to near 98 degrees. Heat index values will be in the 102-108 range and that's just plain hot! There will be a 30% chance for a few storms, but most of us won't get any rain at all.
