MYFOXNY.COM/AP - New Jersey gambling regulators have given six casinos and their software partners permission to begin immediate statewide Internet gambling but say the Golden Nugget still has work to do before it can join them.

Borgata and bwin.party; Bally's and 888 Holdings; Caesars and Amaya; Tropicana and GameSys; Trump Plaza and Betfair; and Trump Taj Mahal and Ultimate Gaming.

State Gaming Enforcement director David Rebuck said Monday six of the seven casinos issued Internet gambling permits could begin offering round-the-clock online gambling effective immediately.

The only other states with online gambling are Nevada and Delaware.

New Jersey began a five-day trial period of online gambling last Thursday. The purpose was to test the complex technology involved in the games and determine whether the systems are ready for the entire state to log on and play.

During the test period, many users were locked out by geolocation software that wrongly determined they weren't within New Jersey's borders.

The 82-year-old carousel on the Seaside Heights boardwalk survived Superstorm Sandy and a devastating fire, but it may not survive changing economics. The company that owns the carousel is selling it to make room for new attractions. An auction is planned for fall, with the hope that a buyer will take the entire ride and prevent it from being broken up and sold off piecemeal.
