Trans fats have become a poster child for unhealthy eating, and experts say they're particularly dangerous because of what they can do to your heart.  But what exactly are trans fats, and why are they so risky?  

Trans fats have been widely used since the 1950s.  They're manmade fats which allow food to sit on the shelf longer without spoiling.  But over the years, one study after another has shown that there's a link between this type of fat and an increased risk of heart disease.  

Last week, the Food and Drug Administration fired off a warning shot that trans fats could soon be banned.
