Off-duty NYC officer hospitalized after attack

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

An off-duty NYPD sergeant who got into an argument with another man was beaten unconscious outside a restaurant in Queens as his wife looked on helplessly from their car, said police.

The attack on off-duty Sgt. Mohammed Deen occurred early Sunday outside St. John's Express restaurant in Ozone Park.

When the officer fell to the ground during an argument with the man, police say the suspect struck Deen with his fists and then punched him repeatedly.

Hayden Holder, 29, of Queens, was arrested and charged with felony assault.

Police say Deen is in critical but stable condition.
