Mass murder threat keeps deer park school closed

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Things are getting back to normal at Deer Park High north campus thanks to Deer Park police.

Matt Lucas is spokesperson for the district. He says, "within 7 hours Deer Park police went from starting the investigation to making an arrest. "

This comes after a 14 year old male student pretended to be a female on Twitter.

He sent out tweets saying he was going to shoot up the school.

The 9th grader said because he was bullied for five years.

He was tracked down to his home through Internet records and arrested.

The reasoning for wanting to shoot up the school by the arrested student has many parents concerned.

Students we spoke with at Deer Park also said bullying is a real issue.

One student says, "you got to know where to fit in. "

In the meantime, counselors were on campus for 80% of the students who did show up.

District officials say about 200 students stayed home including the young girl whose avatar was used by her classmate in that Twitter threat.

The 14 year old male has been booked into the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center and is not allowed back on campus.
