SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) - A 24-year-old upstate New York man remains in jail after police say he brandished a large cleaver as officers tried to arrest him following a domestic dispute.

Police in Saratoga Springs say they were called to the Saratoga Casino and Raceway late Saturday night for a domestic complaint. By the time they arrived, the man had left but officers were able to identify him as Alex Mintzer.

Officials say police were familiar with Mintzer from previous contacts with him. Officers went to his home in Saratoga, where officials say Mintzer grabbed a cleaver and held it in a threatening manner.

Mintzer dropped the cleaver after a few moments, then was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

He's being held in the county jail. It couldn't be determined if Mintzer has a lawyer.
