For ten hours two men held a fourteen year old girl captive in a truck at Lake Forest Park and sexually assaulted her. Her brother marvels at her resilience.
"Yeah, that's my sister. She's gotta be strong if you want to live on this earth. You've got to be strong." He said. We are not identifying him because we don't identify victims of sexual assault or their relatives.
The ordeal began Halloween night. According to court documents Eric Bonilla and Daryl Mayberry enticed the fourteen year old into a truck at the intersection of Las Cruces and Oak knoll, just half a block from her house. Her friends saw them speed off. The girls told her family what happened which touched off a frantic search.
"After riding around for three to four hours. Riding around the whole neighborhood just riding and looking for the same truck." said her brother.
Eventually they found it parked in front of Bonilla's home on Laura Koppe.. Just a few yards from where she disappeared.
"So we asked him did you pick up a little 14 year old on Halloween night. He said yeah but I didn't do anything. I said You lying I swear to God!" he said.
He said he left her with Mayberry who lives just a few blocks from the park. So the family went to pay him a visit.
"I can't lie I through a brick through the window. I kicked in the door and everything I went into the house and searched and couldn't see nobody."
The commotion attracted police. While they were under arrest for trespassing. The teenager made it home. She was able to lead her family to Bonilla. Ironically he called police when the family showed up. Police promptly arrested him.
The girl's mother says Halloween will never be the same for them.
"Now I'm thinking about not letting them go trick or treating on Halloween no more." she said.
Bonilla has bonded out of jail. There is a warrant out for Mayberry's arrest.
