NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A teenager is charged in connection with a shooting at the Bryant Park ice rink shooting on Saturday that wounded two people, leaving one possibly paralyzed.

Corey Dunton, 16, is facing attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment charges.  He cursed at news crews as he was escorted out of a police station on Monday.

Dunton, who has been described as a gang member, allegedly went up to a 20-year-old man because he wanted to mug him of his expensive coat. The man refused, and the shooter left. Police say the shooter then returned just before 11 p.m. and started firing.

There were about 300 people on the ice at the time of the shooting.  People panicked in the chaos and started running, some still wearing their skates.

Frank Franchi was at the park at the time.

Franchi says, "All of a sudden you hear pop, pop, pop, three shots and then you hear the radios of the employees 'Shots fired. Shots fired'.

The 20-year-old man was hit in the arm and 14-year-old Adonis Mera was struck in the back. The victims were rushed to Bellevue Hospital. Family members of the Mera say he has no feeling in his lower body and may be paralyzed.  The 20-year-old was not identified.

"It was terrifying; my legs were shaking," Raghuram Krishnamachari told the Associated Press.

He was dining with his family in a restaurant overlooking the park when they heard three shots being fired and took a photo of the scene with his camera and posted it to Twitter.

"We had a view of the whole thing, we saw it happening, and the first thing that came to my mind is, `It's a crazy person with a machine gun and all he wants to do is kill as many people as possible,"' the Brooklyn man said.

Police say the suspect did not know either victim and the gun used in the shooting had not been recovered by Monday night.

The shooting took place in the popular park between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, behind the New York Public Library.  The NYPD is assessing security at the park after the shooting.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
