Reward Offered in Shooting of Courageous Stafford Officer

Posted: Updated:

Five days after a pre-dawn traffic stop erupted with gunfire the entire country is still marveling at the cool and the courage of an exceptional Stafford cop.

Dash cam video released today shows Officer Ann Carrizales moments after she was shot in the face and chest. Bleeding and in pain after returning fire, the former Marine and mother of two pursued the gunman and two accomplices in patrol unit until responding officers could pick up the chase and arrest one of the three suspects - alleged trigger man Sergio Rodriguez.

"I was born to be a protector. I have always been a protector. It would be nothing for me to give my life for yours. I wouldn't think twice to do it. I didn't think twice to do it in the past and I wouldn't think twice to do it in the future. But sometimes even we protectors, we seek protection," said Carrizales.

And protecting the protectors is what Carrizales' appearance before the media was all about.

Crime stoppers is offering a $10 thousand dollar reward for fugitives Freddy Henriquez and Daniel Cruz, both Honduran nationals.

Local and Federal law officers have promised a national and, if necessary, international manhunt.

Meantime, Officer Carrizales' husband proud husband had his own message to the public.

"If they could shoot a cop with no regard for life, they are not worth it. They are not worth your protection because they don't care about you," said Chris Carrizales.
