HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Dwight Howard and the rest of the Houston Rockets beat the Charlotte Bobcats for their home opener 96-83

It's not just Houstonians out at Toyota Center to support the team, but people from all over the world.

"Big Rockets fans in Asia, especially in Taiwan," said Sabring Weiss, a fan who attended the game.

From more than 4,000 miles away, folks from Ireland were here to watch the game.

"We could not go home without seeing a basketball game. We are hoping to get to a football game as well but that unfortunately is on Sunday," said Ray Hennessyn, a fan from Ireland.

In the sea of red at Toyota Center, you also found superman costumes. Not for Halloween, but inspired by Rockets Center Dwight Howard. He's been known to pose like superman flying through the air.

"We have been needing a championship since 1995. We are ready, we have energy," said James Davis, another Rockets fan.

The fans we talked to say they are ready to celebrate what they hope ends up being an NBA championship.

The next home game is Friday against the Dallas Mavericks.
