Empty and dusty, its familiar signature rainbow seats circle a field, a platform, that's brought so much joy , so many memories to people far beyond Houston's city limits.
"It's the eighth wonder of the world," said Leah Mastaglio with Reliant Park. " It means a lot to the city. The crown jewel of Harris County and Houston. I think it has a lot of historical value, and I think everybody that lives in Houston has a story about the Astrodome."
Sitting in a seat that will be up for sale during an Astrodome yard sale this weekend, 21 year old Tristan Land marveled at the dome. This was her first visit to the legendary 8th wonder of the world. Opened in 1965, the seats that will be up for sale have accommodated fans of the Astros, Oilers, Cougars, WrestleMania, and of course, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for decades.
"It's pretty cool people are going to be able to take home a piece of history when they auction some of the seats," Land said.
