Baby left alone at home

Posted: Updated:
A Long Island man has been charged with leaving his 13-month-old son alone at home.

Suffolk County police say it happened Sunday during a weekend visitation with the child.

Police say they responded after receiving a 911 call of an infant crying in the basement apartment of a multi-family dwelling on Little Treasure Drivein Medford.

Police found the boy in a bedroom with a soiled diaper.  Police say that Officer Dena Miceli comforted the child, checked his health and changed the diaper while they waited for the father to return.

The father, Kelly Voss, 44, was arrested when he returned to the house about 40 minutes later. Police charged him with endangering the welfare of a child. He was set to be arraigned Monday.

The child is in the mother's custody.
