Multiple stabbings in Riverside Park

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

A crazed attacker slashed or stabbed five people, including a baby, on a bike and pedestrian path in the vicinity of Riverside Park on the West Side of Manhattan on Tuesday morning, police said.

The call came in just before 8 a.m. from the area of Riverside Drive and the west 70s along the Hudson River, the FDNY said. The initial reports were that four victims were stabbed in attacks at various locations along a bike path, as far south at 59th Street.

The slasher attacked four adults and a 1-year-old boy, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said.

Cops arrested Julius Graham, 43, who is described as an emotionally disturbed homeless man. Originally from Texas, Graham had been living in a shelter in the Bronx, the AP reported.

The FDNY transported two adults to Roosevelt Hospital. A woman in her 30s was in critical condition. Police brought two other victims to other hospitals. One victim was the father of the toddler who was apparently stabbed while trying to protect his son, according to reports.

All of the victims are expected to survive, according to a police statement to the Associated Press.

Former NY Knicks point guard Raymond Felton pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Manhattan gun case, taking a plea deal that involved admitting a felony but spares him jail. Last winter, after Felton's law student wife filed for divorce, her attorney brought a loaded semi-automatic handgun to a police precinct and said it was Felton's and she wanted it out of the house, authorities said.  Felton's attorney said he never threatened anyone with the gun.
